Staffing
Here at Butterfield Pre School our staff have been selected to provide a high standard of care and education for your child. All staff are subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks before they start employment, have regular performance reviews and have a firm commitment to on-going training.
The setting adheres to/exceeds the Early Years Foundation Stage welfare requirements whereby at least one member of staff holds a level 3 qualification and half of all other staff a level 2 qualification and they will always be at least 2 members of staff on duty at any one time.
Staff ensure they know all the children in their care and each child will be assigned a ‘key person’ with whom both child and parent/carer can build a special relationship. Each ‘key person’ will be responsible for the planning of activities assessing the development of each child within their care care and providing a strong link between home and setting.
Our minimum ratio of staff to children is as follows:
1 Adult to 8 children (3+ year olds)
1 Adult to 4 children (2-3 year olds)
Who are we?
This is a small introduction to the Senior staff at the setting to help you and your child/ren become familiar with who we all are and our background.

Hello, I’m Nic Fish (or Tinkerbell if you ask the children)
I am the Owner and Manager here at Butterfield. I have been here for many years and I have worked in many nursery settings during my time in childcare. I joined the group in April 2007 and took over the ownership back in March 2015.
I have undertaken lots of different training and have many years’ experience and this is all reflected in the practices in the group. I have a wealth of knowledge in many areas but have a passion for learning about behaviour of children and how to help self-regulation.
Butterfield is a huge part of my Family and I love every day at nursery it is never the same and the children bring so much joy to the setting. You will always find me around the setting I love seeing the children fully engaged in their activities and learning new and exciting things whilst and using their imaginations.
The extremely committed staff and parents of the group ensure we are always working together for the children.
I am always here to help in any way I can and hope we can provide the care and education you require for your child.
I look forward to seeing your child develop and grow
